General Info:

  • The European Central Bank (ECB) raised rates by 0.75% last week, marking the largest interest rate hike in the central bank’s 24 year existence
  • The September hike brings the deposit rate to 0.75%, and the futures market is pricing in an additional 1.25% of rate hikes by the end of the year
  • In addition, the ECB adjusted its inflation expectations higher for 2022-2024 and lowered its GDP growth forecast for 2023 and 2024
  • Fun Fact: Eating polar bear liver can kill a human being. If eaten in one meal, 30-90 grams of polar bear liver can be fatal due to its high concentration of Vitamin A


Monday 09/12:

  • Oracle reports earnings
  • U.K. industrial production data

 

Tuesday 09/13:

  • U.S. NFIB Small Business Optimism Index for August
  • U.S. CPI data for August
  • Headline CPI is expected to decrease -0.1% month-over-month (8.0% year-over-year), while Core CPI is expected to increase 0.3% month-over-month (6.1% year-over-year)
  • U.K. unemployment rate, which is expected to remain stable at 3.8%

 

Wednesday 09/14:

  • U.S. PPI data gives us a look at input prices for August, which are expected to have declined by -0.1% month-over-month (8.8% year-over-year)
  • U.K. CPI data is expected to show inflation of 10.1% year-over-year in August
  • Eurozone industrial production data

 

Thursday 09/15:

  • Adobe reports earnings
  • U.S. business inventories, retail sales, and industrial production
  • U.S. initial jobless claims and continuing claims

 

Friday 09/16:

  • Congratulations and happy birthday to all the people born September 16th – they have the most common birthday; May 22nd is the least common birthday (excluding February 29th)
  • University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index (preliminary reading for September)
  • The final reading of Eurozone CPI data for August is expected to show inflation of 9.1% year-over-year
  • China home sales, property investment, retail sales, industrial production, and unemployment
